I am father of two daughters which means I don’t really have time for hobbies, but what time I do have is spent reading, writing, or watching sports. Having grown up in MN, I am one of those unfortunate souls doomed to forever be a Minnesota sports fan. I just can’t quit them. I live in the Nashville area and I work at Lifeway Christian Resources for the Leadership Development team.
I am a Christian. This means I believe in Jesus, the son of God, as the only one who could clean up the mess I make of my life because I try to play God. He is the one way to have a full and happy life now, and then even more so after death. If that sounds strange or nonsensical that’s because it is, at least within the extent of human understanding. Part of being a Christian is the process of reconciling oneself to the mysteries of faith and growing bit-by-bit in the understanding of who Jesus is and what He has done. It is a relationship with a friend who is utterly enigmatic because, unlike any other friend, He is perfect. That process is part of why I started this blog. I write because I don’t understand and because I keep discovering and seeing new things about Jesus and His world.
I blog because I enjoy writing, the act itself and the developing and working out of ideas. I use this site to host pieces I have written or those I have run across which I find informative, thought provoking, or entertaining. I write regularly for The Blazing Center and He Reads Truth and am the author of The Pastor’s Kid: Finding Your Own Faith and Identity, Help My Unbelief: Why Doubt is Not the Enemy of Faith, and my newest book is The Curious Christian: How Discovering Wonder Enriches Every Part of Life. I hope you appreciate what you find here in some way or another.
