I am married to Lauren and the father of Grace and Dianne. We love living in the Nashville area and taking advantage of the beautiful outdoors for hiking, the readily available live music, and the wonderful restaurants.
I serve as one of the pastors at Immanuel Church in Nashville. Prior being called into pastoral ministry I worked in Christian publishing and leadership development for nearly fifteen years. I grew up in the church, quite literally, since I was a pastor’s kid until I turned 30. For the most part I loved the church, but I had (and in many ways still have) a complicated relationship with it. I have never left it, but I have certainly resented it at points. For a long time I was certain I would never become a pastor; that sounded awful. But God moves in mysterious ways and chuckles when we say “never.” And I am deeply thankful for that.
I use this site to host and highlight pieces I have written, podcasts I have hosted, or share things have run across which I find informative, thought provoking, or entertaining. I have contributed to a variety of websites and publications and write regularly for He Reads Truth and am the author of several books which you can find HERE.
I co-host The Happy Rant podcast with Ted Kluck and Ronnie Martin in which we cheerfully (if sardonically) rant about all the things that don’t matter all that much and some things that do.
